Just a simple shot today...a little playing around with depth of field with this photo of a rusty nail, moss and acorns on a fence at Beacon Hill Park near my house.

365 Project, Day 169

Here is my day 169 submission to my 365Project:

Tofino was mostly wet and rainy today but just before the sun set the skies opened up and we had the most gorgeous evening light. Everybody emerged from where they were hiding for the day and filed on to the beach to take in the moment. Included in this group were many photographers taking full advantage of the gorgeous and unexpected 'golden hour' that unfolded. Spectacular!

This one hearty photographer, despite the slippery rocks and the pounding surf, got himself out to this rocky point to photograph the sea in all it's wildness in the golden light. Here we have a true west coast moment...and undoubtedly a true west-coaster braving the elements to get the shot!

Despite the rain we still donned our full rain gear to go beach-combing and enjoy the beach

This crazy guy decided to tear most of his clothes off and jump in the sea...another hearty westcoast soul in action :)

365 Project, Day 168

Here is my day 168 submission to my 365Project:

For Valentine's weekend we went to Tofino, Vancouver Island for for some stargazing, beach-combing, surfing, hiking and hanging out by the fireplace. Upon arriving tonight the skies were crisp and clear, the stars bright and the moon was just rising creating wonderful silhouettes of the trees surrounding Cox Bay Beach Resort where we were staying for the weekend. It was absolutely gorgeous and I had to stop and get some photos before even settling into our room! 

February 9, 2014: Working That Mussel

365 Project, Day 167

Here is my day 167 submission to my 365Project:


This afternoon on a walk at Witty's Lagoon Regional Park we observed a gull busily working to crack a mussel open by dropping it to the ground to crack the shell. It seemed to be quite successful at doing this and it certainly added an entertaining moment to the walk. Although it was chilly it was a beautiful afternoon around the park.

February 5, 2014: Frozen Fountain Beauty

365 Project, Day 166

Here is my day 166 submission to my 365Project:

Lucky me...I returned from Edmonton, where it was freezing cold, to arrive in Victoria to where, though it is quite rare, it was freezing cold! 

During the day I noticed the fountains around the BC Legislative Buildings were freezing up so I decided to come back and photograph them all lit up at night and I think I managed to grab a few very nice shots from this little photo session :)
