Update on elephant seal in Esquimalt

Trev called this morning to let me know that he went to check up on the elephant seal and when he arrived he found a crowd including fisheries officials, representatives from Vancouver Aquarium and a camera crew. He said they put the animal on a sling and took it away.

Then I received an update this evening from Adam, of Ocean Explorations, who told me he was also around when the elephant seal was moved. He said it had been swimming and looked alright but apparently had blood discharges that were of concern to the officials. Also, they found that it had a tag from California. So it's quite likely the officials could be taking the elephant seal to the Vancouver Aquarium's Marine Mammal Rescue and Rehabilitation Program. Hopefully it recovers soon!
