J POD IN HARO STRAIT May 18, 2009

We departed the Victoria Harbour at 1400 this overcast and drizzly afternoon on Five Star Charters Supercat and headed to Haro Strait to look at J and the K13 matriline of K pod whales.
The whales were spread out non-directional and foraging when we arrived offshore of Bellevue Point, San Juan Island around 1500. I was able to get IDs on K25, Scoter, with J27, Blackberry and K27, Deadhead and also saw J1, Ruffles' tall wavey dorsal fin and a female, likely J2, Granny, travelling further in the strait offshore of us. As well, J32, Rhapsody also came close enough for a good ID look and photo. Despite the pouring rain it was a great sighting of these members of J and K pods foraging together!
