365 Project, Day 185
Here is my day 185 submission to my 365Project:
We have been seeing marine mammals most days on this project including white-beaked dolphins (Lagenorhynchus albirostris), minke whales (Balaenoptera acutorostrata), common seals (Phoca vitulina) and gray seals (Halichoerus grypus). Unfortunately, most of these sightings have been too far to capture decent photos of those animals. Of course, there are always many Northern Gannets (Morus bassanus) around to photograph including juveniles with their patchy brown and white colouration.
Here's a photo of an adult Gannet (no patchy brown and white colouration) and I decided to turn it into a black and white photo which I quite liked.

Although this colour photo of this young looking gannet (with the patchy brown and white underwing) it shows how Gannets' heads become suffused with a peach colouration. It takes 4 years to reach maturity so this bird must be very close to reaching maturity.
